Announcing the Ampleforth Society Padel Club

With Padel growing in popularity around the world, the time has come to launch our new Sports Club!

We are delighted that a group of Ampleforth Society members are launching a Padel Club. The club is open to both parents and Old Amplefordians, offering a friendly and social way to connect through sport. While some external competitions are restricted to alumni players, there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to play and get involved.

If you would like to join the club or simply find out more, please contact societymail@ampleforth.org.uk to be included in updates about forthcoming activities - including a tournament in Madrid, regular opportunities to play in Yorkshire, and plans to build a wider UK-based network as interest grows.

For those keen to represent Ampleforth competitively, we are currently looking to form teams for the following alumni competitions:

  • 18 March – Over-50s Men’s Alumni Schools Championships, Fleet Padel Hub
  • 18 October – Open Alumni Schools Championships, Fleet Padel Hub

The Club is also seeking a Women’s Captain, and we would warmly encourage anyone interested in helping to develop the women’s side of the club to get in touch. Nick Bianchi will serve as Men’s Team Captain, and Damian Galloway as Club Secretary. All expressions of interest in the alumni championships will be coordinated by Damian.

For those new to padel or looking to develop their game, Damian is also a padel coach at We Play Padel in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, and would be happy to support aspiring players.
