2005 Leavers Reunion

They say twenty years can pass in the blink of an eye — and for the Amplefordian leavers of 2005, that couldn't be more true.

Over the years, many of us have managed to stay in touch with our friends from SHAC. Some bonds have remained incredibly strong, while others, naturally, have faded a little — shaped by distance, life’s twists and turns, or simply the passing of time. But this weekend gave us the perfect chance to reconnect, reflect, and — for just one day — feel as though we had never left SHAC and the valley at all.

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, after a year of careful planning — tracking down contacts via WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and every online tool we could think of, and settling on a weekend blissfully free of sports fixtures and major festivals — the Class of 2005 finally reunited to celebrate two decades since we last walked out through those school gates.

An incredible 70 of our original cohort of around 100 made the journey, travelling from across the USA, Kenya, Spain, Malta, Switzerland, Germany, Asia and beyond to gather at The Groucho Club for a truly unforgettable day.

It was an evening filled with laughter, stories, and heartfelt reconnections — a powerful reminder of the bonds we forged all those years ago, and how, even after twenty years, some connections never fade.
