Old Amplefordian Cross Country
OAXC
The Old Amplefordian Cross Country Club continues a proud tradition of running at Ampleforth, where distance, discipline, and camaraderie have long gone hand in hand. With roots stretching back decades, the club brings together alumni of all ages to compete, reconnect, and carry forward a legacy of endurance and school spirit.
One of the centrepieces of the calendar is the Alumni Run on Wimbledon Common, hosted by the historic each year by Thames Hare and Hounds Club. This event has run since 1954, with Ampleforth fielding teams since 2006.
Back in the valley, the Corbould Cup each January sees OAs face off against the School’s 1st XIII over the classic Senior A course — a 4.5-mile challenge through some of the most beautiful (and brutal) terrain the valley offers.
As running continues to grow in popularity amongst younger generations, the OA Cross Country Club offers something special: community, tradition, and the satisfaction of testing yourself — together. New members are always welcome — whether you're chasing times or just want to stay connected through sport & maintain a level of fitness.
