The Lord Stafford, DL (C72)
Chair of Trustees
Lord Stafford followed in his father’s footsteps in attending Ampleforth, where he first met his wife, Katie (née Codrington), during the Easter Retreat. Their two sons were also educated at the College, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and the family continues to maintain a close and enduring bond with both the College and the Monastic Community.
Lord Stafford is Chancellor of Staffordshire University and brings extensive experience in education. He previously served as a Trustee of Harper Adams University and now remains involved as a Patron. He holds several board positions, including Chair of Trustees at Countryside Learning, reflecting a long-standing commitment to education, rural affairs, and public life.
A keen sportsman, he was President—and for many years, a playing member—of the Old Amplefordian Cricket Club. He also served as High Sheriff of Staffordshire, becoming the first peer to hold the post since 1371.
