I played rugby with Alex at Ampleforth and got to know him reasonably well. His massive strength up front made victory almost inevitable! He was a very fine prop forward and an integral part of a great Ampleforth XV. His mother, a lovely, hard working lady, was a kind and much loved House Matron. She was so proud of Alex. I lost touch with him after he left school but I can see him clearly as anything in my mind's eye, a good and decent man. I shall keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.
