Henry and I, although a year or 2 apart at SHAC, ended up in the same training platoon at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1974 - 75. In that time we enjoyed together the shared experiences of the robust Sandhurst regime, before going the separate ways of our military and subsequent careers. He was a hugely popular member of our team, appearing in the very best of British tradition to be slightly disorganised but in reality being anything but chaotic. He charmed everyone with whom he came into contact, and I had the privilege if sitting next to him at a Sandhurst Intake Reunion about a year before his death, when he told me he had beaten his cancer. His Memorial Service, in the Guards Chapel, was a huge affair, showing how much he had touched the lives of so many people. It was an outstanding tribute to a well loved and respected man.
