Hawnby Hike and Mass with Fr Richard
The beautiful estate of Hawnby, nestled within the North York Moors National Park, is the starting point for the 3.5 mile circular hike that takes in the hermitage at Holly Hill where Fr Aidan Gilman lived as a hermit for 6 years. Fr Richard will say Mass in the small hermitage chapel before we return to the village. Once back in the village of Hawnby we will gather for lunch at The Owl where you can chose your own lunch and where the Ampleforth Society will provide drinks.
Access to Holly Hill is by kind permission of Jamie Savile (E94) and who has kindly agreed to guide this walk. The stunning estate is rich in rare flora and fauna and a haven for wildlife as well as having sites of historical interest and architectural heritage.
