Virtual St Laurence Ethics Forum: Travel & Tourism

Members of the Ampleforth Society are warmly invited to attend the seventh Virtual St Laurence Ethics Forum, taking place at 7:00pm (GMT) on Thursday 28th January. 

The focus of this forum will be Travel and Tourism.  Chair, Richard Tams (J86), will be joined by Francesca Tonna (B08), Dominic Zoltowski (H03) and James Massey (T82), a panel of experienced travel experts, to help us navigate some of the ethical issues facing the travel industry and how we might seize the moment to change our behaviour post the Coronavirus pandemic.

The event will take place via Microsoft Teams and will conclude with a Q&A. Please note that pre-registration is essential.

Bios of the panellists can be found below:

Chair: Richard Tams (J86) 

Richard spent all his working life in the travel sector. Mostly at British Airways and British Airways Holidays, but more recently setting up a business consultancy advising airlines in the sales arena. Richard is a freelance writer on the subject for a number of travel related publications. He is also a Trustee of the St Laurence Education Trust.

Francesca Tonna (B08) 

After Ampleforth, Francesca took a gap year working with an international events company organising B2B meeting forums around the world. She went on to read Information Systems and Management through the International Program at UCL. Francesca now spearheads the sales and marketing function for all divisions of the family travel business, with a special focus on new product development and the luxury market based in Malta. 

Dominic Zoltowski (H03)

Dominic is currently an Airbus Captain at Wizz Air UK based in London. He has spent over 6,000 hours in the air, flying in the Middle East, India, Africa and Europe. Before joining the airline he spent many hours teaching others to fly in small aircrafts. 

James Massey (T82) 

After Ampleforth James studied Business Studies at Leeds Met and then went on to a become a very senior marketing manager with extensive experience in well-known organisations across multiple sectors, from financial services to travel industries. James has over 16 years exposure to multi-channel successful marketing campaigns and managing local and remote teams with annual budgets up to £12m. He has an extremely well-rounded commercial understanding and inclusive approach with senior stakeholders in delivering marketing strategic programmes that deliver results, having experience with both Monarch Airlines and Easyjet.
