Ampleforth Lourdes Pilgrimage 2020
The annual Ampleforth Lourdes Pilgrimage is attended by over 400 people each year, among whom there are many different connections to Ampleforth.
Would you or a family member benefit from joining this year's Ampleforth Pilgrimage as an Assisted Pilgrim? The Pilgrimage is also appealing to all Society members who may be able to help serve as a Nurse or Doctor during the week to get in touch. Please see the letter below from Diana Williams, Ampleforth Lourdes Pilgrimage Director, for further information:
Dear Ampleforth Society members,
I am writing to let you know that the 400-strong annual Ampleforth Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 17th-24th July this year. Included in that number will be about 80 who are infirm, sick in some way, and who will need assistance. In addition to the large group of helpers of all ages, we have a strong clinical team of doctors and fully-qualified nurses. We will all be in Lourdes together to take part in times of prayer, processions, Mass at the Grotto and also times of fun, sharing smiles, laughter and maybe tears over drinks and the occasional ice cream!
We have room for a few more pilgrims who are unwell and will need extra help this year, so if you, or anyone you know, would like to join us as an assisted pilgrim please contact me, Diana Williams, at alhdirector@gmail.com
If you are a Doctor or Nurse who would like to join our Clinical team, please contact either Dr. Hamilton Grantham via alhdoctors@gmail.com or our Chief Nurse, Jenny Micklem, via alhnurses@gmail.com
Lourdes has always been a place of smiles, of deep joy, of laughter, and, yes, sometimes tears and pain. It is a place where we all seem to become the best that we can be. A place where heaven comes closer to earth and we generally return home with a lighter heart. We would love to hear from you if you would like to join us as a member of the Clinical Team or an Assisted Pilgrim in Lourdes this year.
Diana Williams
Ampleforth Lourdes Pilgrimage Director
