Kenya Gap Year Opportunity - Charlotte Dawson (A09)
Charlotte Dawson (A09) recently visited the College to talk to the Year 13 students about the benefits of taking a gap year and her work with Culsans, who arrange conservation gap year programmes all over the world.
Culsans are currently looking for exceptional, young and positive pioneers who have an interest in conservation and adventure to join them for an 8-week programme in Kenya for 2019.
With thanks to a generous sponsor, this eight week programme (3rd March to 27th April 2019) has now been heavily discounted from £9,457 to just £2,000 per student ex. flights, insurance, visa, vaccinations.
The journey will encapsulate one epic adventure, eight weeks, four certificates and three pioneering conservancies. Students will get to explore Kenya and will be given behind the scenes access to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Borana Conservancy and Il Ngwesi Conservancy. They will gain certificates in conservation awareness, permaculture farming, field guide and nature training and also mountaineering, along with developing a number of vital soft skills such as decision making, communication, wilderness survival and personal confidence.
Four places will be heavily subsidised as this is a launch trip and a truly once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with Kenya’s Big Five, witness pioneering conservation programmes first hand and live amongst the Maasai at the beautiful Il Ngwesi eco-lodge.
