Mass and Dinner in the Cotswolds and Spring Drinks in London
The Ampleforth Society Spring and Summer social season is well underway and kicked off in Cirencester with Mass & Dinner in the Cotswolds on the 25 April. The Golden Cross played host to 30 Old Amplefordians and Society members who joined together to hear Fr Richard ffield (A59) celebrate Mass and from there followed a delicious supper. It was wonderful to have Fr Felix (H61) join and great to see him catch up with his protégé, Nick Derbyshire (J88), who went on to play County cricket for Essex and Lancashire. Other Old Amplefordians included Charles Lochrane (C71), Cassian Roberts (J80), Paddy Graves (A79), Cassian Roberts (J80), James Massey (T82), Alice Doyne (M09) and Marcus Worsley (E/W14).
Spring drinks at The Phene on the 2 May saw London looking spectacular. Peter Roberts, Headmaster, was warmly welcomed by Ampleforth Society members including our new Treasurer, John Dick (O77), fellow Trustee, Digby Walker (T11) and 40 other Old Amplefordians. Peter invited all to visit the valley & College when next in Yorkshire. Lady Bamford's rose flowed all evening as did conversation and the evening proved a perfect opportunity for meeting up with friends before heading out to dinner. It was agreed that we should do this event again soon
