Thank you for supporting the new College Cricket Nets

Ampleforth College Cricket

Thank you to so many of you for your generous donations to the fundraising appeal to replace the cricket nets at Ampleforth College. We are delighted to report that the fundraising target has been reached and a date has been secured for the project to begin. This would not have been possible without the support of over one hundred Parents and Old Amplefordians who contributed to the fund over the last three months, particularly the Ampleforth Society Trustees who pledged to match fund a large portion of the donations made. Your enthusiastic response has been a testament to the strong community that surrounds Ampleforth, for which we are all extremely grateful.

Total-Play has been appointed as the provider of this new facility, after meeting with other firms and looking at all options for the cricket nets. The team at Total-Play know Ampleforth well and are very well regarded in the industry.  Their Managing Director, David Bates, will be recognisable to many OAs who attended the brilliant summer cricket camps at Ampleforth College over the years where he was one of the team involved. Work on the new nets begins on 4 September 2023, which is the earliest date we can secure with a guarantee of minimal disruption to pupils. The new nets will be ready for winter training after the Autumn Half-Term. Robin and Penny Dyer will be invited to return to Ampleforth for the blessing and opening, details of which will be shared in due course.
