OAXC v College for the Corbould Cup

OAXC squad

Under a cold, dull sky with the ice crunching underfoot, the OAXC returned to the valley to take on the College team in a race over the infamous Senior A course - a setting steeped in tradition. Expertly timed by Mr MacDonald, Housemaster St Hugh's, the race was fiercely contested. Rory Smith (H09) led the OAXC to victory in a time of 26:52:07, followed closely by Rory Henderson (O01) in a time of 27:33:10 and Robert Rigby (T79) in 28:19:33, all showcasing the determination and camaraderie that define this cherished fixture.

After the exertions of the Senior A course, warmth and friendship filled the Pavilion. Tea and cake were shared as Old Amplefordians, students and supporters came together to reflect on the day and hear the final result. A win for the OAXC. Adding a touch of nostalgia, Fr Edward's meticulously kept photo collection - from 1960-2000 was on display, sparking stories and fond memories of cross country from days gone by.

It was a day for celebrating the enduring bond between the OAXC and the College, proving that even the coldest weather cannot damped the warmth of shared history.

We look forward to seeing those members of the Ampleforth Society who wish to join us on Saturday 22 March for our Super Saturday of Sport and where the OAXC will be back in the valley to run the Senior A.
