Open Road at the Edinburgh Fringe

Open Raod

In 2015, Old Amplefordian Catherine Cranfield (M14) started Ecce Theatre company with her fellow University of Manchester drama student, Eliana Ostro.  In 2016 Ecce’s first play, Crazed, written by Catherine, was performed for the full run of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Crazed was met with a positive response, receiving strong, four star reviews.  The play explored issues of university culture, and sexual consent, and worked with the Edinburgh Rape Crisis centre to raise money for victims of sexual assault.  Fellow Old Amplefordian, Phoebe Gibby (B15), joined the team as a producer on this production and Ecce has since been joined by two more Old Amplefordians Antonia Ward (B13) and Rose de Castellane (M14).

The girls are currently working on their second production, Ostro’s, Open Road, which will again be performed for the full run of the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe.  Antonia is directing the production, with Rose producing, and Catherine, Phoebe and acting, alongside a fresh new cast.

Open Road is a fast-paced and emotionally engaging play, exploring a constant struggle for control in contemporary society; it will be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe from the 2nd to 28th August (excluding 15th August).
