Friendship Holiday Update

Friendship Holiday Update

Sadly the Big Walk did not happen as planned last June and we are very sorry that it had to be cancelled. However, the Friendship Holiday itself did go ahead a week later and as ever, was a wonderful occasion. This was only possible thanks to the generous donations made by all our sponsors. We made every effort in June to contact all sponsors to let them know that the Walk did not go ahead on the scheduled date, offering to return funds. If there are any sponsors whom we did not reach, who would like to have their donations returned or would like any more information, please get in touch with Richard Hudson at rmh@ampleforth.org.uk.

The Friendship Holiday was established in 2004 in conjunction with Oak Field School in Nottingham - a Specialist Sports College for students with mental, physical and various other disabilities.

The Holiday took place at the end of the summer term. Thirty middle sixth students hosted Oak Field students at Ampleforth.  They accompanied their guests 24-hours a day: they shared dormitories, ate, prayed and recreated together. Activities included trips to theme parks, doing art, and a lot of dancing. It was a tremendous experience for our students, and a fantastic holiday for all.
