Ampleforth College Announces New Head
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Robin Dyer as the new Head of Ampleforth College. Robin joins from Wellington College where he was Second Master and Operational Head.
He will bring three decades of strategic and operational independent boarding school leadership expertise to the role when he starts at the school at the end of August. Robin will be in place until December 2020.
Robin was highly recognised for his team leadership at Wellington, working alongside Sir Anthony Seldon for much of this time. His responsibilities included the direction of the senior leadership team, implementation of school strategy including co-education, raising of academic standards, student and staff well-being, safeguarding and school discipline.
Robin is a University of Durham graduate and a former Warwickshire Cricketer and we are confident that his appointment demonstrates the opportunity that Ampleforth sees in continuing the investment that has already been made in the academic curriculum, governance, safeguarding and staff-training at the school.
Robin will work in collaboration with our Dean, Fr Ambrose Henley, to ensure that the school’s Benedictine ethos remains central to the senior leadership team.
While in post, he will also work alongside Ampleforth’s new Director of Safeguarding and with the ISI, the DfE, and other statutory partners, to ensure that all standards are consistently met.
Mr Dyer said: ‘Ampleforth College is a world class school with incredible students, a devoted teaching staff and outstanding facilities. I’m looking forward to playing my part in building its future.’
We look forward to welcoming Robin to the College at the end of August.
