Colonel Mike was a wonderful man who offered so much positivity and hope to the world and everyone who knew him. His passing has left a gap which cannot be filled and only time will heal. On behalf of the Ampleforth College Combined Cadet Force and Shooting Team, I offer our most sincere condolences to his family. Miles Blackford
Michael was a bastion of the Lourdes Pilgrimage, always treating Assisted Pilgrims and fellow helpers with the utmost kindness and respect. His presence on "the grid", making sure we put our best foot forward in processions, gave the pilgrimage a real sense of pride.
Michael was immensely courteous to all those he came in contact with, whether it was at the Society Weekend, on retreat or at coffee after Mass. He was a true Amplefordian and will be missed by us all.
Col. Mike was a colleague for several years at SSAFA FH. He was a hard working and perceptive member of staff in the Housing Department and a support with problem cases. Although essentially a very private person, once mutual respect and interests were established he was an interesting conversationalist and a thoughtful contributor, especially on the subject of cricket!
Michael is going to leave an enormous gap in the Lourdes pilgrimage... an absolute rock ...gentle leader ..courteous . A wonderful example to us all...
A wonderful character and memories of our shared experiences in Western Australia in Government House in the 70s. Fondest memories
