Marathon Man Magnus: 7 Half Marathons in 7 Days
Unfazed by the restrictions caused by COVID-19, OA Magnus Walker (T14) has used the lockdown as an opportunity to complete a fantastic fundraising challenge for charity: running 7 half marathons in 7 days at his home in Scotland.
Raising money for both NHS Charities Together and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), Magnus’ running remained completely within government guidelines, seeing him run around his house and garden in a 0.88km loop. With a half marathon equaling 23.5 loops of his garden, Magnus has now completed 164.5 loops and 147km in just 7 days!
You may notice from the photos that Magnus completed his final half marathon in a kilt; Magnus says, ‘I was dared to have a dram of whisky every mile as well, but thought I'd save it for another time on this occasion!’
Beyond reaching 149% of his initial £2000 target, Magnus also extended his fundraising efforts by bravely cutting his hair for the first time in five years!
Magnus was joined by his brothers Digby (T11) and Roland (T13), and his parents Bruce (T66) and Nicky, who have all also individually completed a half-marathon at their family home.
